ESG Secure LPS 1270

Essex Safety Glass is leading the way by being the first company to achieve approval for their ESG Secure Laminated Security Glazing to the LPCB Loss Prevention Standard LPS 1270: Issue 1.

LPS 1270 was developed to increase the current level of security offered by glass tested to European Standard BS EN 356:2000 enabling glazing systems to offer the independently proven higher levels of security compatible with LPS 1175, LPCB's leading standard used for medium and high level physical security products and systems.

In addition, By choosing ESG products certificated to LPS 1270, specifiers and manufacturers will also have the confidence that glazing specified to LPS 1270, can be utilised in products specified to LPS 1175 for doors, shutters, grilles and other related security systems. Please note, when selecting security glazing units it is important to consider other aspects of the product (e.g. window, doorset or curtain walling system) into which the glazing unit is to be fitted. In particular, the method by which the glazing unit is held in place. Manufacturers and specifiers should therefore ensure the complete product or system is assessed and classified in accordance with LPS 1175: Issue 7 rather than simply the glazing.

The standard confirms the glazing's resistance to the creation of three different sizes of holes which represent different risks, ranging from a small slot whereby a wire could be used to open locking devices, to a hand sized hole from where a burglar could grab high value items, through to a whole body hole whereby the burglar could gain full access through it into a secure location. The testing requirements of LPS 1175 are used to test against these varying hole sizes of which a security rating from 0-8 is given against each tested hole, 0 being unclassified through to 8 being the highest security rating listed within the standard. LPCB certificated products also require regular quality auditing to ensure all products continue to be manufactured correctly and to the highest possible quality standards.
